Breathe Owl Breathe plays Evanston’s SPACE ahead of children’s book release
You know those kids’ books/games/toys that you’re happy to give a young one...but secretly wish you could keep for yourself?
Here’s another one to add to the list: The Listeners (The Mole and the Ostrich)/These Train Tracks, by Micah Middaugh of Michigan trio Breathe Owl Breathe. The book, available December 6, joins two beautifully illustrated bedtime stories—one about friendship and another about imagination—in one volume, with a 7" vinyl record in between of achingly pretty songs, with lyrics that match the stories’ text. (You’ll get a download code with purchase for mp3 files of both tracks.)
Swoon.
Fans of Au Revoir Simone, Sufjan Stevens, Iron and Wine, Fleet Foxes and Feist will feel right at home in the dreamy harmonies and light instrumentation of Magic Central, Breathe Owl Breathe’s full-length record from this time last year. Check them out on their current tour, with California’s Little Wings, which hits SPACE (1245 Chicago Ave, Evanston) on November 29 at 8pm. We’re told that while it’s not a kids’ show per se, children are more than welcome; tickets are $12–$22.
