Soup & Bread

The Hideout goes all-ages every Wednesday for this food, fun and fund-raising soup-slurping get-together. Every week, a different mixed group of local notables—from chefs and musicians to writers and artists—cooks up and donates pots of hot soup, which is served with fresh bread donated by local bakeries. It's all free but guests are encouraged to show their gratitude by dropping a few bucks in the collection bucket to benefit the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
