How to get a new neighborhood playground
Getting a city improvement project off the ground takes patience—and some pandering.

Now the hard work starts.
Get organized. Start by creating a website and a logo. Form a nonprofit group. Make flyers to get the word out.
Network and raise your credibility. Hold community meetings (at the park, so people can note the conditions). Join the nonprofit advocacy group Friends of the Parks. Contact your local chamber of commerce.
Draft a document with maps and photos showing who uses the play lot and why renovations are needed.
