Noa Reynolds, 9
Treble Park

What school do you go to?
Oscar Mayer.
Like the bologna?
[Laughs] I don’t know.
Are you looking forward to getting out of school for the summer?
Yes! I always go swimming at the Harrison Pool in Pilsen. It’s an indoor pool, but I wish it was outdoors. It’d be nicer because I like being out in the sunlight.
So, based on your T-shirt, I’m guessing that camp was a success.
Yeah! We got to swim, go on field trips, play dodgeball.
Whoa! Dodgeball? Isn’t that scary?
No. I’m not scared of anything.
C’mon, you have to be scared of something.
Um, the dark. When my mom turns out the light before I go to sleep it gets dark and scary.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
An adventurer like Indiana Jones! I want to explore the world more. I’m really curious. I really want to go to the Philippines. I was born there but I was too little to remember it. Also, I want to take adventures to Egypt and the rain forest. I’ve already been lots of places. I’ve been to California, Cinncinnati, Michigan, and um, I’m going to New York this summer to visit my dad. He lives in New York and I live here with my mom.
When you go on your adventures, how do you see yourself getting around: flying, driving?
Walking.
You’re going to walk across the ocean to Egypt?
Yup. Wait, no! I’d take a boat.
Do you think you’ll have a hat and a whip like Indiana Jones?
Yes. I want to be like him, but I don’t want a girlfriend like him. Girls are icky! They’re bossy and they have cooties. Me and my 12-year-old sister get in pillow fights or water-balloon fights or squirt-gun fights if we’re angry.
But boys are okay?
Yes, because they’re fun and they’re better to make friends with.
Do you think one day you’ll like girls?
No, never.
You don’t think you’ll want a girlfriend some day?
Nope!
Kiss a girl?
Nope!
Get married?
Nope!
