Belmont-Sheffield Music Festival
Kick off your Memorial Day weekend by singing along to cover bands like Too White Crew and Wedding Banned. Sheffield Avenue between Belmont Avenue and School Street (773-868-3010, chicagoevents.com). Noon–10pm; $5. Through Sunday 27.

Chicago Memorial Day Parade
CIA director David H. Petraeus leads this year’s parade, which includes veterans’ groups, high-school marching bands, military members and a horn performance of taps by Bugles Across America. Festivities kick off at 11am with a wreath-laying ceremony in Daley Plaza. State St from Lake St to Van Buren St (312-744-3315). Noon; free.

Gaelic Park Irish Fest
Step dance into Oak Forest for this four-day Irish bonanza featuring live music, dancing, games and theater. Headliners include Ronan Tynan, Leahy and Tartan Terrors. Gaelic Park, 6119 W 147th St (708-687-9323,  chicagogaelicpark.org). 2pm; $15, kids and seniors $12. Through Monday 28.

LEGO Pirates Weekend
Yo-ho-ho your way through Memorial Day weekend when the LEGOLAND Discovery Center turns into buccaneer central, featuring a Pirate's Treasure Hunt (for a chest chock-full of LEGO bricks, natch) and loads of other aarrgghh-ctivities. Shiver ye tickets at legolanddiscoverycenter.com.
