Kidzapalooza hosts Very Important Rocker event at the James Hotel
The Happiness Club performs at the Kidzapalooza Very Important Rocker event at the James Hotel.
It's one of our faves every year: Kidzapalooza's Very Important Rocker (V.I.R.) event takes place at the James Hotel (55 E Ontario St, 312-377-1000) from 8:30–11am on Sunday August 5th. The free morning concert–a highlight of Lolla weekend for many families–is already at capacity, but you can add your name to the wait list by emailing kidza@dkcnews.com.
And you should, because this year's lineup of Kidza artists slated to play includes a roster of cool kindie acts: Dan Zanes, Laura Doherty, The Verve Pipe, Harrison Ivaz and Happiness Club. It's an intimate, "unplugged" event in one of the posh hotel's ballrooms that's open to anyone, whether or not you've got Lollapalooza tickets. This is the fourth year for V.I.R., and it's steadily grown in popularity (plan ahead next year) thanks to a laid-back vibe where families can roll out of bed and let little ones burn off some early morning energy while grown-ups nurse coffee–gratis breakfast treats are also part of the lure, and ease into their Sunday.
Following the sets, kids can get autographs and take pictures with the musicians. Families can also enter to win a stay for four at the James Royal Palm, opening this November in Miami.
