Aspiring actors, dancers and filmmakers can be a part of big shows in the Chicagoland by auditioning in these upcoming calls.

Gorilla Tango’s Skokie Theatre is looking for aspiring film directors or movie stars—ages 7–13—to participate in the Skokie Kids Film Festival: An Evening with the Stars. With Jessica Alldredge as the program advisor, they will write and star in their own movies. After the audition, kids will be divided into two groups for regular rehearsals until the red carpet event for the festival on September 22 and 23.
The audition will be held at the Skokie Theatre (7924 Lincoln Ave, Skokie, 847-677-7761), on August 11 from 1–3pm. Each participant needs to prepare a short monologue from film, and it should be under a minute.

If your child has the talent to become the next Larry Yando, the actor who becomes Ebenezer Scrooge once a year, don’t miss this audition opportunity to become part of Goodman Theatre’s 35th anniversary of A Christmas Carol.
The audition will be held at the theater (170 N Dearborn St) on September 8 from 10am–3pm, but make sure to arrive a little bit early as in-person registration will begin at 9:30am. Performers ages 5 to 17 are eligible to participate, and they should prepare a short poem or monologue (under a minute), one verse of a song (preferable a holiday song or a Christmas carol), and a résumé that includes the following information: age, height, weight, previous theatrical or relevant experience/training, address and contact information. The showc directed by Steve Scottc will run from November 17 to December 29, and the theatre plans to cast five roles, including Tiny Tim, through this audition.

Young ballet dancers should look out for this audition opportunity at the Joffrey Ballet. Auditions for The Nutcracker are open to all dancers between four- and five-feet, tall and ages 9 to 14.
The participants do not need to prepare anything as they will learn the choreography on the audition day. They simply need to be in proper ballet attire (black leotard, pink tights, ballet shoes) with hair worn up. The auditions will be held at Joffrey Tower (10 E. Randolph St) from 10am–3pm on September 16. The three audition blocks run as follows:
10–11:15am: 9–11 years old and four- to four-and-a-half–feet tall
11:30am–1:30pm: 10–14 years old and four-and-a-half– to five-feet tall
2–3pm: 9–10 years old and four-and-a-half– to five-feet tall
After the dancers confirm their participation, the rehearsals will start in October. Two rotating casts of 118 children will perform at the Roosevelt University's Auditorium Theatre, from December 7 to 27.
