South Shore Drill Team to perform at inauguration

Posted in Hipsqueak blog by Jonathan Messinger on Jan 7, 2013 at 4:30pm

The South Shore Drill Team practices for its inauguration performance.

I was in D.C. for Obama's first inauguration, and while our nation's capital was roughly -300 degrees that day, I don't think anyone minded. There's never quite as much fanfare surrounding a second inauguration, but the good news is that the South Shore Drill Team will be on hand to heat up the National Mall. More than 50 of the 300-member of the drill team's members will perform in the inauguration parade. For 32 years the South Shore Drill Team has been teaching flag, rifle and dance routines to youth ages 8 to 21 from across the city.

If you'd like to help send the SSDT to inauguration, the team is currently accepting donations.
